Bihar Cabinet approves two new universities, in Patna and Begusarai

On 23 September 2026 the Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, approved two new universities: a women's university in Patna named after Mata Sita, and Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh 'Dinkar' University at Begusarai. Both have been created under the Bihar Special University Act 2026. The Cabinet sanctioned ₹15 crore for each, for salaries and related expenses.

The women's university will cover the women's colleges in Patna, except those under Patna University. The Dinkar university will cover the colleges in Begusarai and Khagaria.

The same meeting took 24 decisions. Among them were a new sugar mill at Warisaliganj in Nawada district, on 99.39 acres, and ₹160 crore under the Mukhya Mantri Gaudhan Vikas Rinn Yojana for 2026-27 to 2028-29. The scheme gives livestock farmers a full subsidy on the interest on their bank loans.
